So here it is, the longest canoe marathon in the world. 125 miles, 77 locks, two slightly unhinged and ageing gentlemen trying to recreate the glory of their youth and trying to make a bit of cash for a very worthy cause at the same time...

Ian Barnard, one of Pcubed's leaders in its manufacturing practice is re-enacting an event he participated in with his good friend when they were 16 years old – many years ago!

The Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race starts in Devizes, Wiltshire and finishes opposite the Houses of Parliament in central London. The race has been held annually over the Easter Weekend since 1948 and is a "severe test of skill, physical and mental stamina, and planning".

They are taking on this immense challenge to raise necessary funds for The Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-shortening inherited disease, affecting almost 10,000 people in the UK, clogging vital organs with thick sticky mucus. There is presently no cure. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the UK's only national charity working for families with CF and to find a cure. Please click here for more information on the trust ›
